Guangxin Gu has been working in Department of Materials Science and ACRC of MOE, Fudan University since 2003 after finishing his postdoctoral research and mainly engaged in R&D and industrialisation of coating. He has accumulated a wealthy experience in the coatings industry including coating raw materials, paint formulations, manufacturing and painting. As a principal investigator. He participated in the national 863 project (title: Development of self-cleaning architectural coatings) of “the Eleventh Five-year Plan” of China. Because the project was completed well, he and his co-researchers won national 863 scrolling support. Most coatings which he developed have been applied in many major constructions. In recent years, he has successfully exploited the transparent heat-insulation glass coating which has been produced in large-scale. The production specification reaches international advanced level. The coating has been used in Shanghai Science and Technology Museum, Pudong Development Bank Information Centre, bus and other vehicles. Tthe product was won the “2008 International Industry Fair Innovation Award of China”. In addition, he has successfully developed corona-resistant insulation coating for inverter motor. Its performance is similar to with DuPont paint. Based on the development and industrialization of his outstanding contribution, his research group has won a series of national and provincial awards.
