Jin Li is the professor of Department of Materials Sciences, Fudan University. He graduated from Department of Engineering Physics, Tsinghua University in 1982. Then he was certified as a postgraduate in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1985, and acquired a Ph.D. from Universite Paris XI, France in 1990. During 1991-1998 he worked in Institute of Metal Research, Chinese Academy of Sciences as researcher, doctoral supervisor, director of corrosion resistant alloy research, Deputy Director of Corrosion Science Lab, Chinese Academy of Sciences and Standing Deputy Director of State Key Laboratory for Corrosion and Protection. In 1998 he was employed by Fudan University, and now he takes charge in the construction project of Fudan 985 secondary-platform stainless steels corrosion laboratory which is the largest steels corrosion laboratory and talents-developing base in China including 3 professors, 20 doctoral candidates and postgraduate students.
The main research fields that this laboratory covers are the construction of method bases and databases of localized corrosion of corrosion resistant alloys, the evaluation of corrosion of engineering materials, life prediction and failure analysis of engineering structure and equipment.
In recent 10 years, with the laboratory’s systematic research on localized corrosion of all kinds of stainless steels, his crew have set up 40 evaluating techniques for various localized corrosion, built up the evaluation system of localized corrosion of corrosion resistant alloys and acquired comprehensive data of more than 30 alloys. They have also obtained abundant research achievements on many aspects such as formula optimization, microstructure and process optimization, materials option for equipment and failure analysis and so on, most of which have been put into practical application in the industries, and therefore they have become the crucial supporting institute for many great enterprises such as Baosteel and so on. In addition, they have undertaken more than 50 national, ministerial, municipal projects and important national corporations’ projects, including 20 projects of Shanghai Petrochemical, General Motors, Shanghai Volkswagen, Haier Group. They also have obtained many state, provincial and civic technology awards as well as the State Council allowance. More than 200 papers from the laboratory have been published in significant international periodicals.
